Alfredo De Angelis - Virtual Class w/Makela 5/31/2020
Pianist, leader and composer.
(2 November 1910 - 31 March 1992)
Place of birth: Adrogué (Buenos Aires) Argentina
Nickname: El colorado
He focused on the melody with a very simple rhythmic conception. His best numbers were those with vocal duos (Dante/Martel). Around 1949 the orchestra wen through a brief rhythmic period but the departure of Julio Martel at the end of 1951 marks the end of their best recording, with the exception of instrumentals (Pavadita).
Let’s close our eyes and imagine the year 1946, 1st of April, and the times when everybody would listen to the radio. One of the most important radio programs was Glostora Tango Club. Glostore was a hair gel (very important for tango dancers). Alfredo De Angelis was the most important orchestra of this radio program on Mondays at 8 pm.
In the forties Alfredo De Angelis was the promoter of vocal duets. For instance: Dante/Martel: Pregonera, Remolino, Pastora or Dante/Larroca
De Angelis’ Compositions: El taladro, Pregonera, Pastora, Que lento corre el tren, Remolino.
