Pianist, composer, arranger and leader
(9 August 1906 - 6 March 1974)
Place of birth: Buenos Aires Argentina
Lucio Demare is born in 1906 in the neighborhood of El Abasto, in Buenos Aires, in a family of musicians. The father Domingo played the violin, his brother Lucas (important cineaste) the bandoneon, and Lucio chose the piano. At 8 he was already working playing to musicalize silent films in a cinema.
-In 1926, he joins the orquesta of Francisco Canaro and has an incredible success in Spain with a trio assembled by the maestro.
-Back in Buenos Aires in 1936, he creates his own orquesta and uses some marvelous singers, such as Raúl Berón, Juan Carlos Miranda or Horacio Quintana.
-He also worked with the incredible poet Homero Manzi, the author of Malena and Mañana zarpa un barco (composed by Demare).
- Demare was part of the Fresedo school, adding romance and European touches to his tangos. He follows the line of composers such as Cobian, Delfino or De Caro brothers in this romantic revolution.
-As a composer he was prolific and unique. Examples are
Dandy, Mañana zarpa un barco, Sorbos amargos, Negra María, Malena, Mañanitas de Montmartre, Tal Vez será su voz
- His singers at his orchestra were: Juan Carlos Miranda (Malena), Roberto Arrieta, Raul Berón, and Horacio Quintana
